Braces and Clear Aligners for Adults in Chanhassen, MN

It’s never too late to improve your smile. A large part of our practice is teens and adults, and Dr. Michael King, a board-certified orthodontist, builds adult treatment plans around how your bite and smile actually work, not a one-size template. Adults from Chanhassen, Eden Prairie, Chaska, Victoria, Excelsior, Minnetonka, Waconia, and Shakopee choose us for discreet options and careful, individualized care.

Is it too late to straighten my teeth as an adult?

No. Healthy teeth can be moved at any age. Many adults come to us because their teeth have shifted over the years, because they never had treatment as a kid, or because a bite problem is starting to affect how their teeth wear. Dr. King will look at your teeth, gums, bite, and facial balance and tell you honestly what orthodontics can do for you.

What are my treatment options?

Spark clear aligners

Spark aligners are custom, virtually invisible trays that you wear full time and take out to eat, brush, and floss. They’re a popular choice for adults who want to improve their smile without drawing attention to the fact that they’re in treatment.

Damon Clear braces

Damon Clear braces are a discreet option that blends in with your teeth. They have no elastic ties, which makes cleaning easier, and they give Dr. King precise control for more complex tooth movements.

Damon metal braces

Damon braces use tie-less brackets and light, shape-memory wires, so adjustment visits are every 8 to 10 weeks on average.

Should I choose aligners or braces?

It depends on your bite and how your teeth need to move. Aligners work well for many crowding and spacing cases. Braces are often the better tool when teeth need more precise root control or the bite is more complex. Some adults benefit from a combination. You don’t have to decide before you come in. That decision is part of your complimentary exam.

Can orthodontics help my bite, not just my smile?

Yes. Dr. King looks at how your teeth fit together and how your bite functions, as well as how your smile looks. Straighter teeth can also be easier to brush and floss. If you’re working with your general dentist on other dental care, we’re happy to coordinate.

How long does adult treatment take?

Most full treatments at our practice take about 14 to 18 months. Simpler cases can be shorter. Dr. King will give you a realistic range before you start.

What happens after treatment?

Retainers are what keep your result. After treatment, you’ll wear your retainers every night. We make retainers in-house on our 3D printer from your digital scan, and we keep your scan on file so a replacement can be made if one is ever lost or broken.
